Your Journey with PBS UK

FAQs | Positive Behaviour Support & PBS UK
What is Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)?
PBS is a person-centred, evidence-based approach to supporting people whose behaviour may be described as “challenging.” It focuses on understanding the reasons behind behaviour and helping individuals live safer, happier, and more meaningful lives without relying on punishment or restriction.
Who is PBS UK for?
We support people of all ages who may need extra help due to learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, trauma, or other factors. We also work with families, care providers, schools, and services to build more inclusive, compassionate support systems.
Do I need a diagnosis to work with you?
No. You don’t need a formal diagnosis to access our support. We work with the person in front of us – not the label – and tailor our approach around your unique needs and goals.
What does the support process look like?
We start by listening. Then we work together to understand what’s happening, what the person is communicating, and what support will help. From there, we co-create a plan that feels realistic, respectful, and effective. Every journey is different, but our aim is always the same: better outcomes and improved quality of life.
Do you offer one-off assessments or long-term support?
Both. We can provide stand-alone behavioural assessments, short-term planning, or ongoing support and training, depending on what’s right for you.
How do you work with providers and professionals?
We act as collaborative partners. Whether you need specialist input, organisational change, workforce training, or support with incidents and risk, we bring experience, insight, and compassion to every situation.
Where are your services available?
We’re based in Scotland but work with individuals and organisations across the UK. Some support is delivered in person, and some can be offered remotely – just get in touch and we’ll explore the best option for you.
How much do your services cost?
Costs vary depending on the type and length of support required. We’re happy to provide a clear, personalised quote after an initial conversation – no pressure or obligation.
